John Smedley Golf Collection
John Smedley is a highly regarded producer of quality knitwear. Still producing 98% of their garments at their factory in Derbyshire, this manufacturer has steered clear of cheaper production costs both at home and abroad to ensure that the highest quality is maintained by using knitting and hand-finishing processes passed down through generations. It is this aspect that has helped it to be acknowledged as the best in its class.
Each garment is styled with a classic look to make it fashionable on and off the course. It has been the foremost choice for knitwear of many distinguished clients over the years including Nicole Kidman, Harvey Keitel and Sean Connery since his incarnation as James Bond in Goldfinger. Owning one of their products will definitely make you stand out from the crowd without the need for bright colours, just pure quality and style.
Where the quality comes from
Originally utilising local raw materials including water from one of the company’s three springs which are still used today to wash or scour the garments, the raw materials are now sourced abroad. However, that has not stopped them wanting to maintain quality to the extent that you can trace the source of the wool to the exact farm in New Zealand where it was produced. The sheep on these specific farms are allowed to roam the mountain pastures of South Island which help provide the highest grade merino wool, but also maintain ethical and environmentally-friendly products. |

| The cotton is hand picked to avoid tainting it’s purity with defoiliant that is used in mass production techniques. In addition, there are still 35 hand-finished operations involved in making this superb collection of knitwear, including the use of hand sewn linked seams which avoid the need for unsightly ribbed seams. This is a key area when looking for high quality in knitwear. |
