Gore tex performance shell
The dry layer
Goretex
Performance Shell ® is a patented micro-porous membrane manufactured from
expanded PTFE (Polytetraflourethylene) and designed to be completely waterproof.
Galvin Green waterproof garments made in Goretex® fabric are specially developed
for the game of golf, and have a lifetime waterproof guarantee, so confident are
Gore in their fabric and in the manufacturing methods and checks employed by
Galvin Green.
In
simple terms, Goretex ® fabric is completely windproof and water-tight at the
same time as it "breathes". Breathing refers to the fabric's ability to allow
the release of excess body heat and moisture. The outer fabric from Gore is
treated with an ultra-thin coating called DWR (durable water repellent). This
coating penetrates the fibres and serves to ensure that water landing on the
fabric forms tiny pear-like droplets on the surface rather than being absorbed
into the fabric. A water repellent outer fabric provides extra insulation and
prevents liquid from soaking into the fabric so that it remains light. This
technology means that you can concentrate on your game even when it's pouring
with rain and cold on the golf course.
Garments made with Goretex ® materials
keep out that biting wind and rain, whilst allowing the release of condensation
moisture, to keep the garment light and the wearer dry and warm. With a
completely "sealed" fabric used in some waterproof clothing, on the other hand,
moisture remains on the inside and a damp/chill reaction takes place which
quickly results in you becoming very cold.
These
garments are designed for the most comfortable fit for golfers, and the soft and
smooth outer materials hang offer excellent drape characteristics and allow an
unrestricted swing.
Galvin
Green clothing in Gore-Tex Performance Shell fabrics are easy to care for and
can be frequently machine washed and tumble dried. The garments function best
when clean, so don't be afraid to wash them frequently.
Gore-Tex® fabric have a function and material guarantee. This
guarantee means that should your garment leak then, after testing, Gore will
repair or replace the garment.
Tech facts
The GORE-TEX® membrane
contains over 1.4 billion microscopic pores per square cm. These pores are
20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, but 700 times larger than a water
vapour molecule, which makes the Gore-Tex® from the outside, while allowing
perspiration to escape from the inside.
