Surrey First team

Surrey First Team Victory

The Surrey team had to play one of their toughest opponents to claim a famous victory in the South East Region at Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club. Having already disposed of Kent, Dorset and Hampshire, Surrey needed only a draw with Sussex to get through to the next stage.  Sussex have put out traditionally strong teams over the past few years and got off to a flyer winning the morning foursomes 2 1/2 to 1 1/2.  Once again, it fell to Andrew Cooley and his partner Billy Fowles to secure Surrey's only win.

However, in the afternoon singles, Surrey took 5 of the 8 singles matches to secure the vital win by 7 points to 5 with Captain Simon Crockett winning the anchor match 4&3 to make certain of the victory.  Premium Gof Consultant, Hugh Marr, Head Coach for the past 4 years said this was probably the best team Surrey had put out in his time.

'This was a fantastic performance against a very strong Sussex team.  We have put out consistently good sides against all our opponents and this was really the icing on the cake.  The whole team performed brilliantly, but I have to single out Andrew Cooley.  He's only 19, he played at Number one all year and he only dropped half a point.  What a future he has'.

Premium Golf Hits St Tropez

James Lockrose and Alex Nicolson jointly won the "Lucky git" award for July being asked to custom fit a client for Honma clubs in St Tropez. James is pictured left setting up for the fit itself and the other pictures are of the course in St Maxime (Amarante) where we had to stay. I would highly recommend this hotel (Amarante Golf Plaza) as apart from the pool, the golf course (picturesque and not too challenging) the views are incredible as you overlook St Maxime and St Tropez. A visit to Tahiti Beach would be a top tip as well. I hope we get asked back as we didn't have time to go yacht shopping - seemingly one of the top three pass times down there. AN

Vega Ladies Set

Given that Vega clubs are quite pricey and relatively new the UK, it was of no suprise that Lisa (PG) was their only female user until July. However that changed with one of our customers, Amanda Marshall taking a set of the delicious 50th Anniversary Cavity back raw edition. We fitted her with some True Temper GS75 shafts which are one of the lightest steel shafts available to maximise club head speed.

Loch Lomond 08 5th tee LL

Alex fulfils his Loch Lomond dream

PG Founder Alex Nicolson won June's award for the hastily created "Lucky Git" award by being invited to play on Loch Lomond on his birthday. He was gushing about the experience and couldn't decide which part he enjoyed the most, a credible 73, great company, fantastic course, haggis lunch or "THE most amazing shower in world. I was in there for 20 minutes and nearly drowned. It was the perfect end to great day. It made a lot of people at home jealous, which was just a bonus."

Mallorca son gual

Inaugural Mallorca Cup

Tip for all golfing travellers, Mallorca golf is expensive but very good. Alex (not pictured thank god) played with some friends on the South West Coast of the island, near Soller. Captains, Robert Hicks and Konstantin Von Unger (pictured left) hold aloft the mighty trophy which will now be contested every year if we can persuade Konsti to put us up again.

Soller itself was beautiful and if you are bringing non-golfing partners, it works quite well. Son Gual (left) was the course on which the decider was played and bloody hell is it difficult. The designer clearly has an affinity for lakes.

New web site launched

After some tweaking, some more tweaking, and then a bit more tweaking after that, Premium Golf launched its new look store web site much to the relief of Alex and Lisa who don't want to see another database for a while. "The new version allows golfers to find products more easily and see the different options more clearly, and I'm in the new banner which is the most note-worthy change" commented Lisa.
