The Golf:
Only 15 minutes by car from Campbeltown and about half an hour from Machrihanish, Dunaverty although somewhat different from its famous neighbour, is well worth a visit offering an entertaining and enjoyable round of golf. A scenic undulating Scottish links, the course has spectacular views of Ireland and the Mull of Kintyre.
The opening holes, particularly, are breathtaking. Not a long golf course (4799 yards par of 66), it is known for its small well-maintained greens. It is possible to shoot a quite a low score round here as long as you keep your concentration, but with so much to look at that can be quite difficult. However serious your match, do make time to stop after the 10th hole (you will be exhausted anyway by the hike to the top of the course) and admire the views of the Emerald Isle. If you are lucky you may have the delight of seeing the dolphins leaping out of the water in Brunerican Bay. Having savoured your few moments of rest and idyllic views, you will be brought back swiftly to reality with the Signature hole 11th, a 266 yards par 4 with a truly dramatic long downhill drive.
