VEGA at Premium Golf
Vega Golf is based in Ichikawa and though the company is almost one hundred years old, it has only recently appeared on the radar of the golfing community outside its home country of Japan. Over the years since its inception, Vega has been adapting and refining the forging processes once used to make Samurai swords for use in production of another precision instrument, the golf club. The result is that Vega has earned a reputation for producing beautiful, precision iron and wedge heads.
As part of its custom fitting services, Premium Golf holds stock of each of the models of Vega iron and wedge heads, as well as a wide selection of shafts and grips so that when you visit us for a custom fit, we have everything we need to build your perfect set of Vegas. Vega Golf utilises a one piece forging process:
Heating and Shaping:
S25C mild steel iron billets are cut into sections which are heated to 1200 degrees C. A forging hammer is applied with precise levels of force to first create the approximate shape of the head, then to ensure that the face is perfectly flat.
|
 |
Trimming and detailing:
Excess metal is trimmed from around the head. Grooves are pressed into the face. The hosel section is drilled out. This method provides more strength and a more uniform feel than a welded hosel. |
 |
Finishing and checking:
Craftsmen hand grind and polish the heads to the perfect shape and weight. The heads are passed through the plating process to give the desired finish. The finished heads are masked and their faces sand blasted by hand. The loft, lie, weight and finish of each head is thoroughly checked by Vega craftsmen. |

Premium Golf's custom fitting and clubmaking process:
If you are going to invest in a serious piece of kit like Vega, do not compromise in how they are fitted. All our sets begin with a comprehensive custom fit session at one of our green grass facilities where you can see the ball flight. Sets are then built from components where the most appropriate shaft is selected from a vast range. More info. |
