Why water is best
 
Fizzy drinks and coffee may give you a calorie or caffeine boost, but are not best suited to golf. Caffeine stimulates the brain to provide energy, but should be avoided prior to golf as it can also make you anxious, not a state that enhances performance. When choosing a drink in the pro shop or halfway house, avoid the fizzy and caffeine laced drinks and go for the simple option of water. Sports drinks are also a good option as they are carbohydrate and eloctrolyte rich, great for when you are perspiring or exerting large amounts of energy. Really, water is usually the best option. Prior to a golf tournament, ensure that you are well hydrated the day before, as dehydration will trigger fatigue.
